Rules and regulationsGrand Prix Nova is a festival organized by the Romanian Radio Broadcasting Corporation. The festival is competitive and is open to broadcasting organizations and independent producers.
A. Aim of the festival
We like to define innovation as the artistic trend that reaches to the new generations by finding more efficient technical and esthetic approaches to deliver its message. That artistic product that „breaks into” the market or society.
B1. The Grand Prix Nova festival begins on May 31th , 2016 and unfolds over 5 days (award ceremony is on June 4th , 2016).
B2. The entrant must download the Registration Form and resend it completed together with the script in the original language and English translation (*.PDF only), and the audio file* at email@example.com before March 1st, 2015. .
Notice! The audio files uploaded during the registration process will be used for the listening sessions at Grand Prix Nova. The CD you will send during accreditation is considered only as a safe copy.(*) Accepted sound formats:

B3. The preliminary selection of the programs will be concluded by April 15th, 2016 and all the candidates will be informed about the results as soon as possible.
B4. The accreditation form and 1 CD of the selected recorded broadcasts, together with original scripts translated into English must be submitted by May 10th, 2016. The complete script in the original language and in English translation should be printed in two parallel pages or columns. The script of the program should be sent in 50 copies.
Parcels should be sent by air, a bill of freight enclosed, to the address above. The sender should inform the organizer of the dispatch date and the bill of freight number. The recordings and scripts will remain in the archives of the Drama Department of Radio Romania.
We will have a special offer for Grand Prix Nova participants from Bucharest hotels, available in due time.
C1. ELIGIBLE PERIOD
All professional radio drama programs are eligible for entry in the 2016 awards competition, provided that they:
1. Were produced or first broadcast between March 1st, 2014, and February 28th, 2016.
2. Programs submitted at previous editions are not eligible for new submission.
3. Conform to the categories listed below
The categories for the Grand Prix Nova are :
1. Radio drama
2. Short forms
C3. NUMBER AND LENGTH OF ENTRIES
Entrants decide in which category they want to compete and state their decision in the registration form.
Each entrant can participate with:
1. In Radio Drama category - an individual broadcast that may not exceed 60 minutes or maximum of 2 broadcasts, each registered separately, with a total length of up to 100 minutes ;
2. In Short Forms category - a maximum of 2 broadcasts, each registered separately, no longer than 10 minutes per program. ARS ACUSTICA radio pieces are also welcome.
The organizer would like to encourage the authors of entries to attend the Festival and participate in the open discussions with fellow practitioners.
C4. JUDGING AND AWARDS
Programs will be judged by a Jury. The Jury is formed by but not limited to prominent radio experts and professionals from stations and companies around the world. Entries are judged for production value, presentation of information, creativity and use of the medium. A short list will be announced by the jury the day before the award gala. Press releases will be sent to international wire services. Winners will be announced at a gala held on the last day of the festival.
The best programs will be granted the following awards:
1. Radio Drama category:
- The Grand Prix Nova 2016 Award, consisting of a trophy, a diploma and a prize money of € 4,000;
- Second and Third Prize, consisting of a trophy and a diploma.
2. Short Forms category:
- Grand Prix Nova 2016 Award, consisting of a trophy, a diploma and a prize money of € 2,000;
- Second and Third Prize, consisting of trophy and a diploma.
C5. The organizer will pay the prize money in all categories to the authors of the winning entries or to the representatives of the submitting organizations to be handed to the winners.
C6. For practical reasons, the official language of the festival is English.
C7. Programs that have already been presented at other festivals are also welcome.
C8. Programs should not contain advertisements.
C9. The entrants pay all shipping costs (custom taxes included) for scripts and recorded broadcast. The parcel should be clearly marked: For festival use only – No commercial value.
C11. The entrant agrees that, in case their program wins one of the festival prizes, the organizer of the festival may use up to three minutes of the winning program for the purpose of promoting the Festival, including Internet broadcast.
C12. The organizer reserves the right to make a preliminary selection according to the following criteria: how the program meets the basic requirements of the festival, quality of the program, entrant's quota and date of receipt.
C13. An entrant whose program has not been admitted to the contest will be notified of the decision.
C14. All entrants will be officially notified of the decisions of the jury.
D. DISPOSITION OF ENTRY/ERRORS & OMISSIONS
Entries and materials submitted will not be returned and may be displayed,
shown, duplicated, published or reproduced for educational and/or promotional
purposes as Grand Prix Nova deems appropriate. By entering, the entrant
agrees to hold Grand Prix Nova exempt from any costs or expenses of
any claim arising out of any such use.
Entrants have the option to not have their entry shown in its entirety on our websites by exercising the option listed on the online registration form.
Grand Prix Nova assumes no responsibility for the acts or omissions
of those individuals or entities submitting entries pursuant to this
notice. All submitting entities and/or individuals are advised to
review submissions with respect to correct name credits and other
The entrants grant the festival the right to file a single copy of
the submitted program in the central Archive of the Grand Prix Nova,
to be used exclusively for research and documentation purposes. This copy will be made by the festival at
its own expense for use on the Internet or for promotional purposes,
including fragments of the competing programs.
